CABLES
Recycling cables
Cable scrap is often generated as a result of demolition work or when recycling old appliances. It is very valuable scrap, as cables contain metal; primarily copper and aluminium. These are valuable materials that are of the same quality as the natural raw materials. That is what makes the recycling of cables so worthwhile – once the plastic has been separated out, the metals are extremely pure and can be returned straight back to the production of new cables. Cable scrap is in fact now one of the most important sources of recycled copper. The cables are chopped up, separated and then granulated into various sizes. The plastic can also be processed into granulate and reintroduced to the circular economy.
Wiederkehr Recycling accepts all types and sizes of cables, either sorted or mixed. Specific regulations apply to underground cables, as they usually include lead and are therefore subject to extra controls. We will be happy to advise you if you have any questions about cable disposal.
