Recycling steel beams and rails
Steel beams and rail tracks, as well as steel plates, pipes and tanks, are all so-called heavy scrap. Heavy, because they have a thickness of 6 mm or more. They are made of steel alloys and mainly come from demolition work. Heavy scrap is a higher grade when it is clean, homogeneous and free of any mechanical or galvanised components or other contamination. Once sorted and chopped up, these metals are then melted down in a blast furnace and processed into high-quality steel.
