COMMERCIAL VEHICLES
Recycling commercial vehicles
When a lorry reaches the end of its service life, it still has a lot to offer. Around 90% of the materials in a decommissioned commercial vehicle can be recycled. Following a thorough and complex dismantling process, all of the parts are sorted and cleaned. This results in containers full of iron, aluminium, copper and brass, as well as plastic and combustibles. The material is either melted down or incinerated to produce district heat. There is hardly any residual waste and the emissions for landfill site logistics are dramatically reduced. Nowadays, around a third of the total weight of a new lorry is recycled material. The fluctuating raw material prices for steel and iron make this important both environmentally and economically.
